Are there tuition assistance options?
Indiana is committed to providing all children access to quality educational opportunities. Indiana's Choice Scholarship Program, commonly referred to as the voucher program, (authorized under IC 20-51-1 and IC 20-51-4) provides scholarships to eligible Indiana students to offset tuition costs at participating schools. Students must satisfy both household income requirements and student eligibility criteria to qualify.
Participating schools and interested parents work together to enroll students and to submit Choice Scholarship applications to the Indiana Department of Education. Schools and parents should explore the links below for more information.
How do students participate in the college experience opportunities?
GEO Focus Academy of Indiana will work with each qualified student to enroll them in an appropriate college-level course schedule. Students can earn college credits toward an associate’s degree or career certification through this program.
Does GEO Focus Academy of Indiana provide textbooks and other instructional materials?
Yes, we provide textbooks and instructional materials. These books and materials are dependent on the student's grade level and the courses they're enrolled in. Senior high school students receive fewer printed materials than elementary and junior high school students.
Can my child work at their own pace?
The elementary program is self-paced and flexible within the parameters of the curriculum. Junior and senior high school students complete lessons in synchronous and asynchronous sessions and are expected to complete, quizzes, tests, and other assignments in a timely manner.
Do I need to have access to a computer to attend?
Yes. However, based on financial need and eligibility, GEO Focus Academy of Indiana may loan one computer per family to support the learning process upon request. These computer systems are instructional property and must be returned at the end of each school year.
How much time do students spend on the computer?
We expect that students will spend no more than 15 to 30 percent of their school time on the computer in grades K–5, 50 to 70 percent in grades 6–8, and 80+ percent in grades 9–12. We believe in a balanced approach toward education. Computers help us provide you with effective assessment, planning, and time-management tools. Computers also act as powerful teaching tools that can motivate, stimulate, and inform children about the world around them. They do not, however, replace a solid education. Rather, they help facilitate one. That's why we use a unique multimedia approach that also includes traditional books, workbooks, and instructional materials.*
How do students interact socially?
Students spend time with classmates online and through school outings, field trips, and other activities. In addition to school-based clubs, K12 online national clubs help connect students with like interests and passions.
